Speakers in Schools | Regional Tour | Roxby Downs

Speakers in Schools made its way to Roxby Downs on 23 and 24 February, visiting not only Roxby Downs but Woomera and Andamooka. With six speakers joining us, we started the tour with Clayton Burt and Pip Moorehead, both from BHP Billiton. Both speakers spoke about their career paths and explained how they got to where they are today. Pip engaged the students by involving them in a leadership game, which not only allowed the students to learn about leadership but also had them in fits of laughter!

Advantage SA's Speakers in Schools program currently engages more nearly 400 South Australian professionals who volunteer their time to visit schools across the State and inspire students to pursure their careers here in South Australia. To acknowledge the valuable contribution of our speakers, Advantage SA holds an annual Speakers in Schools Awards program. The awards are presented at the end of each year and recognise the outstanding effort provided by our speakers throughout the year. Our selection panel looks for speakers who have gone beyond the expectations of the program in the following categories: New Speaker Award Metro Speaker Award Regional Speaker Award Program Ambassador

LEADing the way DOWN SOUTH

The Advantage SA Speakers in Schools Program was delighted to be involved with the Community Partnership @ Work Forum: LEADing the way DOWN SOUTH on Thursday 27 October. The Forum involved four engaging speakers who shared experiences both professional and personal relating to life, education, aspirations and career.

On Wednesday 7 September 2011 Speakers in Schools was up bright and early at the Channel 9 Studios, very excited to be amongst the speakers for the ‘Speakers Training Workshop’ featuring Darren Fleming from Executive Speaking. The morning started with a light breakfast and freshly brewed coffee. Mix 102.3’s Mel Greig was there to MC the workshop.

4 seconds ‘WOW’ after listening to Ashley Knoote-Parke at at the ‘Brand It Purple’ forum on Thursday 14 July held at Bernie Lewis the Speakers in Schools presenters learnt how important the first 4 seconds are in relation to meeting someone, making a first impression and standing out in a crowd.

The formula for successful teenagers has been uncovered. The first part of the formula is sparks! Sparks are those activities in your life that get your blood pumping, those things you just love to do, a unique gift that you can do more easily than others.

The Speakers in Schools program coordinates four regional tours per year and recently visited towns in the Riverland. On Thursday 26 and Friday 27 August 2010 Advantage SA travelled to the region with Nathan Johnson, Executive Sous Chef, Hilton Adelaide and Kate Rush, Senior Project Officer, Department of Families and Communities.
